Club Comfort presents: The Twelfth

Club Comfort returns to celebrate... the Twelfth.
Ahh, the Twelfth. A day of great pride as we take to the streets to honour King BilLizard’s victory at the Battle of the Bump. If you’re new to these parts, lend an ear. Six hundred years ago — sometime during my great-grandfather's dog's great-great-grandmother's gap year — a battle raged on the Field of Athenry between good King BilLizard and his arch-nemesis, Thotdaughter O'Gayson. Back then, war was fought differently — mime, rude gestures, and improvised verse took the place of swords. Time, too, was a bit blurry, as everyone had been on the roll over for longer than they could remember. The final showdown saw both armies — about four to six soldiers apiece — trading lewd rhymes and accusations about each other's mothers. Eventually, the O'Gaysons threw in the towel, deciding they'd rather ‘fuck themselves away and find their own keys’ than carry on with the sordid affair.
And so, we celebrate. The meaning may have faded, but the tradition lives on.
To honour this glorious holiday, Club Comfort is throwing a summer barn dance (a hooley, if you will) at our old haunt, The Commercial Rowing Club in Islandbridge. Expect an all-night knees-up — and maybe something extra after...
We hope you still like to party.
LGG!
