Ark release their debut album entitled Top of a Mountain on the 19th of\n
June 2026. The Irish alternative trad/folk outfit was established by accla
imed\ncello player Kevin Murphy who has long been associated with experime
ntal folk\nmusic in Ireland and internationally. A founding member of Slow
Moving Clouds\nKevin has collaborated with celebrated folk legends such a
	s Iarla O Lionáird\,\nJohn Spillane\, Cathy Jordan\, Úna Monaghan and Ger
Wolfe while he has also worked\nwith international artists such as The Nat
ional\, Bon Iver\, Jenny Lewis\, Lisa\nHannigan\, Rick Danko and Dave Gaha
n of Depeche Mode. On Top of a Mountain he is\njoined by Thomas Haugh on Z
ithers\, Percussion and Electronics and Lizzi Murtough\non vocals. Aki fro
m Slow Moving Clouds is also a guest musician playing\nNickleharp and Viol
yra.\n\nAlthough the cello is not an instrument generally associated with
traditional\nmusic it occupies a central place here. Kevin plays Jigs\, re
els\, and polkas\nwhile the cellos also form a lush bed for Irish and Scot
tish folk songs sung by\nKevin and Lizzi. Thomas’s sound palette of zither
s\, electronics and percussion\nconnect the earthly with the otherworldly.
The approach taken by Rattling Ark\ndraws comparisons with Pentangle\, Ha
xan Cloak\, and The Gloaming. Top of a\nMountain is launched at the Belo B
ar in Dublin on the 19th of June 2026 as part\nof a nation wide tour.\n\n
