DESCRIPTION:On Thursday 1st May to celebrate May Day\, as part of the Radic
	al Film Network’s\nWorkers Rights screenings at multiple locations\, will 
	be screening a number of\nshort films selected from a list compiled by the
	 RFN.\n\nWe’d encourage everyone to get along to see what is on offer. The
	 selected films\nrepresent a wide range of countries\, styles\, and approa
	ches to the theme of\nworkers’ rights.  This series of short films and one
	 trailer are as follows:\n\nManifestoon (1995)\, Jesse Drew\, USA: an expe
	rimental cartoon version of the\nCommunist Manifesto.\n\nLe casa che erava
	mo\, The houses we were (2018)\, Arianna Lodesetero\, Italy: An\narchival\
	, polyphonic and entangled demonstration into a charitable low-income\nhou
	sing institute.\n\nRepublic\, (2023)\, Rosie Reed Hillman\, UK: as the was
	hing machine whirs\, three\nwomen care for their young children repeating 
	actions they carry out each day.\nAn immersive and acutely observed insigh
	t into the ’private’ sphere and women’s\neveryday labour. \n\n#Precarity S
	tory\, 2020\, Lorena Cervera\, UK/Spain: tells the story of Isabel\, a\ncl
	eaner\, hourly-paid teacher and researcher at the same British university.
	\nFilmed during the 2018-2020 UK higher education strikes\, this documenta
	ry\nexposes the reality of the academic precariat.\n\nStuds Terkel Remembe
	rs: the Haymarket Affair (2000)\, John de Graaf\, Mirko\nPopadic\, and Ala
	n Harris Stein\, USA: Portions of this video were shot for\nRocking the Bo
	at\, a documentary on the labour movement. Honouring the 139th\nanniversar
	y of the Haymarket Affair\, an important moment in labour history\nand the
	 origin event to May Day.\n\n£10 entry - £5 concession.
